New Senior-only DMV opens at Calumet Township Community Center

Calumet Township recently welcomed a new senior service as we hosted the grand opening of the Calumet Township Seniors-only DMV. Supervisor Rita and the Calumet Township Board were joined by Illinois Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias and other state and local leaders to celebrate the opening of this facility. It is the region’s first seniors-only DMV service center, saving seniors travel and wait time.

This facility is open Monday – Friday from 8 am to 4 pm and does not require appointments. For more information call 800-252-8980 and press 2.

As always, we would like to thank Roseland Ceasefire and the Village of Calumet Park for their continued partnership. This final week, we will honor Actor Nichelle Nichols. Nichelle Nichols was born and raised in Robbins, Illinois and is the daughter of the former Robbins mayor, Samuel Earl Nichols. This week, we honor Dr. Daniel Hale Williams. Dr. Williams was a pioneering African American surgeon renowned for performing one of the first successful open-heart surgeries in 1893. A trailblazer in the medical field, he founded the first non-segregated hospital in the United States.
